Mindful Therapy Services

serving seekers of greater awareness and
meaning in Kansas and Oregon

The Method

Dr. Jessica has pioneered an approach called “Reflective Therapy.” This method helps you learn the art of reflection so you can slow down and bring more awareness and insights to your challenges. She often utilizes mindful photography and creativity as the bedrock for her unique approach to healing and transformation.

For individuals, Dr. Jessica initiates self-exploration that inspires personal awareness and wisdom, increasing your capacity to manage challenging situations. Building self-awareness through the reflective therapeutic process inspires transformation and lasting change.

For couples, Dr. Jessica can help you increase communication, reduce conflict, foster mutual respect, and enhance intimacy and companionship. While some may be fearful to say what’s in their heart, therapy offers a safe place to speak and be heard in your relationship. Couples therapy is designed to help you solve impasses, listen and communicate more clearly, and understand yourself, your partner, and your relationship more deeply.

Grief Goes Beyond Death

For those experiencing grief, there’s something you should know. There’s a misconception that if you’re grieving, you need therapy for the death of a loved one. However, grief is experienced beyond the confines of death.

The pain of grief is experienced in moving homes, changing communities, losing friends, departing from a loved pet, etc. We are committed to guiding you through the complexities of your emotions and unique life experiences so you can be heard and go forward with self-assurance and a renewed sense of meaning in your life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is grief therapy?

Grief therapy honors the authentic emotions that arise during times of sorrow and transition, offering a path toward healing and renewal. Grief therapy isn’t just about death. It covers any type of loss: friendship loss, moving homes, leaving communities, changing churches, etc. Grief extends beyond death. Through creative expression and compassionate guidance, therapy for grief empowers individuals to reconnect with their inner wisdom, fostering growth, and a renewed sense of purpose and connection amidst the light and darkness of the human experience.

What is mindful photography?

Unlike conventional approaches to photography, mindful photography sees beyond what is “looked” at. The focus is clear seeing and personal resonance. Photography, when practiced mindfully, can facilitate an aesthetic experience wherein one learns to temporarily overcome the subject-and-object dichotomy and disconnection. The process of mindful photography involves the acts of receiving, letting go, and learning to wait. You let go of thinking, judging, self-evaluation, clinging, and rejecting and accept whatever comes, good or bad. When photography is practiced mindfully, it can be therapeutic and increase awareness and the capacity to create meaning through our experiences.
